The New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) opens in Auckland in early 2026.
It has been equipped with five Pertronic F220 networked fire panels and another five F220 Agent Release gas flood panels.
In addition, the NZICC has seven Vesda aspirating smoke detectors, Fireray Beam detectors, EWIS and WIP phone (Emergency Warning and Intercommunication System, and Warden Intercom Phone), all incorporated in Pertronic’s easy-to-understand FireMap graphics.
The conference centre, located diagonally opposite Auckland’s Sky Tower is a multipurpose fully carpeted 6,708m2 hallspace. This is suitable for theatre, exhibitions or dinners for over 1000 people. There is an additional 2,700m2 of meeting space, with up to 33 individual spaces able to be created at any one time along with additional pre-function spaces in an adjacent laneway.
Pertronic fire detection equipment has also been installed in the newly built Horizon by SkyCity Hotel. This 938 room 5-star hotel is connected to the NZICC by an airbridge.
Auckland regional manager Darryl Ingham says Pertronic worked closely with the installer contractor (Triangle Fire Protection) during the installation and commissioning process to meet the fire protection needs of a world-class convention centre.
“Our flagship F220 fire panel is capable of integrating with a range of fire detection and warning systems,” Darryl says.
“The F220’s ability to network and communicate with other F220 fire panels makes it a favoured choice for fire contractors. We’re delighted that our equipment is protecting what is sure to become an iconic Auckland and New Zealand building.”
